The attack at pearl Harbor was an attack on the naval base in Hawaii. The reason for the attack was that Japan thought of the navi as a threat to the war. Planning started in early 1941 and completely planed out by September 1941. Vice Admiral Chichi Ngami was the commander of the Pearl Harbor Striking Force that attacked pearl harbor. There were 6 aircraft carriers that held a total of about 430 planes.On December 7th 1941 at 6:00 and ended 7:15 the Japanese sent out 360 planes in three waves. The Japanese sank or damaged a total of 18 ships; there were 8 battle ships, 3 light cruisers and 3 destroyers. On the airfields the Japanese destroyed 161 American planes. 74 belonged to the army and 87 to the navy. There were 102 planes seriously damaged; 71 were from the army and 31 from the navy. The Navy and Marine Corps suffered a total of 2,896 casualties of which 2,117 were deaths.
